BACKGROUND
|
|
J.
D. Smith came to the insurance
industry in 1979 with a background
in Canadian Publishing. He worked
with his father for 16 years
and they, together, published
many Canadian best sellers and
specialized in calendars on
Canadian Artists.

EDUCATION
|
|
J.
D. Smith is a graduate of, and
taught business courses at,
Ryerson University. He received
a BA in Economics, and a BA
in sociology, and took the MBA
program at York University in
Toronto. He was given an honorary
Doctor of Laws degree in 2006
for his community work.

HISTORY
|
| J.
D. started the brokerage with
1 employee, the support of 6 insurance
companies and 1 car policy. Within
2 years the company insured car
dealerships throughout Ontario,
a hospital and 8 large retail
franchise operations. Now, 27
years later, the company is one
of the 50 largest Insurance Brokers
in Ontario, with over 12,000 clients. |
